That shower was short-lived, but fortunately we got a soaking rain later in the day and I was thankful. A friend of mine in WV posted a picture of washing her hair in the rain when they weren't allowed to use the water in Charleston last week. I remember the same experience in Costa Rica when we didn't have water for three days - it changed my perspective on how I take water for granted. Being in Africa just brings it home even more.
This blog is a record of some of our experiences as a family when we are living outside of the United States. It is here mostly for us to give our friends and family in the US and around the world a glimpse of our lives away from all of you, so feel free to comment and let me know what you'd like to hear about.

Rain in Africa
Last Sunday when I was driving to church there were dark clouds in the sky. I was happy to see them since it's the rainy season and we haven't had a lot of rain lately. It started to spit a little, but nothing substantial fell. During the service we were having communion, which is a fairly quiet time at our church. However, at one point the rain started to hit the roof and you could feel the excitement in the room. All of a sudden there were quiet conversations all over the room. Later during the service our pastor commented on how excited Africans get when it rains! And tied it into his question about whether or not we get as excited about Jesus.
